Our vision for Nubelo was to create a one-stop shop for finding your next job. Starting as a freelance marketplace, we expanded by adding job postings, company profiles, employee reviews, and salary benchmarks.

Growth momentum in the freelance marketplace was plateauing after capturing key Latin American markets. Despite high activity, profitability remained challenging, and competition intensified with emerging hybrid models like curated marketplaces and HR SaaS platforms.

Three key insights:

  1. Digital talent embraces flexible work modalities - freelance, full-time, or remote - and frequently switches between them
  2. Digital talent chooses employers rather than vice versa; companies must actively pursue candidates
  3. Digital talent commands premium salaries; transparent compensation reduces friction

Implementation:

  • Multiple job posting modalities enabling freelance, full-time, and remote opportunities
  • Comprehensive company showcases featuring profiles, benefits, culture, and values
  • Enhanced transparency features mirroring Glassdoor's model with employee reviews and salary data

This expansion proved challenging despite sound strategic reasoning. Nubelo carried strong "freelance-only" brand associations requiring significant rebranding investment and messaging shifts.
